Tension Release Exercises (TRE®), also known as Trauma Release Exercises, is a progressive somatic practice created by Dr David Beceli, PhD, to evoke a natural tremoring or shaking response in the body.
The practice involves gently activating muscles to encourage a measured release of deeply held defence or tension patterns that are no longer needed in the moment. This then facilitates a settling down of our nervous system and with regular practice over time, a path back into a more balanced and harmonious way of being.
Amongst other things, TRE® also facilitates a connection or reconnection with both ourselves and others which may have been lost or degraded over time. Through regular practice this growing awareness of ourselves and ability to engage more fully with the world around us can be both beautiful and profound.
