The TRE® session follows a structured yet informal format starting with six simple warm up exercises done mostly in a standing or upright position. The seventh exercise is usually done on the floor and it is at this point that the tremoring response may begin, often with some gentle shaking in the legs.
We usually spend around 15-20 minutes doing the warm ups and then a further 25-30 minutes in the 'shaking' segment of the session. We will also do a very simple grounding exercise at the start of the session and then finish with some quiet integration or processing time.
TRE® is a body-centred practice with a focus on connecting or reconnecting with ourselves in a safe, held space with participants being supported to go at their own pace. We take regular breaks during the session in order to self-regulate and to come more into a place of awareness.
After the session people often feel relaxed, calmer, more present and more 'in their body'.
